Hot Milk Sponge Cake

When everyone thinks of a preppers pantry, they often think of the ingredients to make meals. However, during times of stress a sweet treat can lighten the darkness for a moment and give you a little hope.

Seriously, never underestimate the power of a homemade treat.

I have been on the hunt for desserts that I can make from the ingredients I keep stocked in my pantry, and this hot milk sponge cake absolutely fits that bill.

It is quick to put together and sweet enough on its own that it does not need any icing, plus it is made from simple pantry staples.

Ingredients

1 Cup of Flour

1 Cup of Sugar

1/2 Cup of Milk

2 Eggs

2 Tbsp of Butter

1 Tbsp of Vanilla

1 tsp Baking Powder

How to Make:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Crack eggs into a large bowl and whisk briskly until frothy. (Can use a hand mixer make it extra frothy.)

Add sugar 1/4 cup at a time, whisking briskly in between to keep the mixture frothy.

Add flour and baking powder, mix until just combined.

Set aside.

Get a small pan and heat milk, vanilla, and butter together until the butter is melted and the milk is steaming.

Add the hot mixture to your batter and whisk quickly until mixed together.

Add to a greased pan.

Bake in oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown on top.
