How to Cook Grits

I have learned that many people stock up on ingredients to build a prepper pantry; but when life gets crazy and they need to rely on that pantry, they do not know how to cook the items they have stocked up on.

One common ingredient that people include in their prepper pantry is grits. Grits is super easy to cook, and they are very filling. However, the best part about grits is that they grow when they are cooked.

1/4 cup of grits is a complete serving size. Can you imagine how many servings you have stocked up on in your pantry?

Today, I am going to teach you how to cook them.

Ingredients:

1 Cup of Grits

4 Cups of Water

1 tsp Salt

1 tsp Pepper

4 Tbsp of Butter

How to Make:

Add all ingredients to a sauce pan.

Heat on medium heat until bubbling.

Reduce heat to low and simmer stirring frequently until thick, about 10 minutes. (Remember it gets thicker as it cools).

Remove from heat and let cool 5 minutes before serving.

Tips for Success!

The ratio for Grits is 1 part grits to 4 parts water.

1/4 cup of grits is 1 serving, feel free to scale up or down as it fits your family size.

Great toppings for grits are shredded cheddar cheese or a spoonful of sugar. You decide!
