The New Fork Campground is located on the outskirts of Pinedale, Wyoming.

We spent only 2 nights at this location, because we had absolutely no cell service, and we need cellular service for work.

When you arrive at the New Fork River Campground, you will see that it is right off of the main road.

The BLM website states there are 2 campsites at this location, but we were unable to distinguish one from another, in the main area. It may be speaking of the two campsites we did locate down a road, but this road is not one I recommend you take.

The road that extends past the main area has a steep climb up a hill. On top of that hill, some of the embankment gave away, taking part of the road with it. If you attempt to drive up this area, do so with caution.

The 2 distinguishable campsites we found had fire pits, a grassy area, and were along the riverside, but they are not big enough for anything bigger than a tent, camper van, or small pod.

We were disappointed, as other reviews had indicated there were multiple sites in this area. One review indicated 5 sites, and we found that not to be true.

We parked near the entrance to the area, in what I am assuming was the parking area. It was a very large, graveled area with 3 picnic tables and fire rings spread around. It gave us an overlook of the river, and on a clear day we could see the mountains in the distance. It does have vault toilets, but we did not go in to them so I can not speak on their condition.

We had no issues with parking in this area and felt we were well out of everyones way.

However, there are no trees to buffer you from the main road, and I felt sort of like I was on display for everyone to see.

This area is also used as a boat launch, so on a pretty day you may see a few people coming and going.

Some tips for the area:

Get groceries before arriving at this destination. There really is not anything close to this campsite, and the nearest town only had a very small grocery store.

Also, you can not put any watercraft into the water unless it has been inspected and you have sticker saying you can. If you travel with canoes or kayaks, look for the signs when entering Wyoming to have your watercraft inspected. They seemed to be located with the truck weigh stations.

Cost of Stay:

Free! Our favorite kind.

Length of Stay:

14 days. It is posted on a sign at the entrance.

Cell Service:

We have Straight Talk that runs off of Verizon towers and we had 0 signal. It showed we had bars, but it would not connect to our network so some phone carrier does have service there. It just sadly was not ours.

Do I recommend this area?

Not really. It is not a bad area, it just isn’t a great area either.
