Site Review-Bienville 533A- Raleigh, Mississippi

GPS: 32.1284, -89.5003

This site was located on US Forest Service Road 533A. USFS Rd 533A is a logging road that is created from compacted dirt, and it is washboarded in a few places.

The road did have a few hills to go up and down, but our F250 Super Duty was able to pull our 40-foot travel trailer through it.

We followed the USFS Road 533 until it Y-ed off and we chose to go left on to 533A.

At the end of the road 533A, we came to a clearing that appeared to be a turn around area used by the logging trucks. It has one deep rut in it, maybe 2-foot-deep, but other than that was fairly level. We chose to park in the middle of the turn around area so that there was room all around us incase someone did in fact need use that area to turn around.

When walking the dogs through the woods, we did find an area with a lot of old garbage. Other then that one area, the site seemed fairly clean.

The area is quiet, but you can hear some road noise occasionally.

Length of Stay-

I think is 14 days, but you should always check for yourself if you plan to stay in an area like this.

We had planned to spend a few days in this area, however our weather radio informed us a major storm was on its way and we did not want to run the risk of getting stuck in that area with no cell service to call for help if needed.

Cell Service

Our cell provider is Straight talk, but it runs off Verizon towers and we had almost no cell signal at all. In some areas we were able to get 1 bar of service, but it was flighty and not reliable.

Do I recommend the area?

For us, no. We operate a business online and we have to have cell service. However, if you want to get away from everyone and don’t mind dragging your RV down an old logging road, I say go for it! It is a quiet area where you can just get back to nature.
